The Lessons We Can Learn From Eco-Minded Businesses

The world is in a mess, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be saved! Businesses, both large and small, are putting green initiatives in place to reduce their environmental impact.

Of course, their reasons for going green go beyond saving the world. They know that the attention of the public and the media is on them, and by making eco-friendly choices, they know that their reputation will be secured. For businesses, world-saving and profit-making now go hand in hand.

Still, it doesn’t matter why they are going green, as its the fact that they are that matters. And by following their example, you can make changes too, whether you’re making changes in your business or workplace, or making green changes at home

Let’s take a look at a handful of eco-minded businesses and the lessons we can learn.

BP PLC

BP hasn’t always had the best of reputations. And to be fair, the same can apply to other oil companies too. In the past, oil spills have been common, and in BP’s case, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010 was one of the worst.

Still, let’s not bear grudges. The company is now actively engaged in water cleanup, and they are building technologies to reduce both oil leaks and greenhouse gases.

What lessons can you learn? Well, if you’re in business, you can also use oil water separator tech to protect the environment if it’s appropriate to your business type.

And at home and at work, you can minimize the damage caused by toxic spills. You could make your own cleaning products, for example, using natural instead of chemical substances. And you could take steps to avoid spills when changing the oil in your car and when using paints for your home renovations.

Google

The search engine giant is doing much to make the world a safer place to live in. They regularly campaign for green issues, they support green energy projects, and they are currently aiming to be the first company to operate carbon-free. You can find out more here

So, what can you learn from the company? Well, you can also campaign for green issues. If you have a blog, raise awareness to others, and do the same on social media. When shopping, support those companies who are going green instead of those that aren’t. And do what you can to reduce your carbon footprint. Walk more instead of relying on your car. Reduce your energy usage at home. And use these other ideas to become carbon-free, as you can have the same goal as Google.

Target

This famous shopping company is doing much to go green. Not only are they making efforts to limit their energy usage, but they are now selling an eco-clothing line too. This gives shoppers a choice when buying something new to wear, as they now have the opportunity to wear sustainable fashion.

What can you learn from this? Well, if you’re in the business of manufacturing products, you should use sustainable materials, as your customers will welcome it. And by using this sustainable fashion guide, you can also go green with your outfit choices.

So, think about the lessons these and other eco-minded businesses can teach you. Follow their example, and do your bit to protect the world we live in.
