Boehner Minimum Wage Reaction: “Harder for Small Employers to Hire People”

Boener
When House Speaker John Boehner was asked about President Barack Obama’s statement on raising the federal minimum wage to $9 from $7.25 by the end of 2015, the Ohio Republican said, “When you raise the price of employment, guess what happens? You get less of it. Why do we want to make it harder for small employers to hire people?”

“Our goal is to get people on the ladder and climb that ladder so that they can live the American Dream,” the speaker told reporters.

Boehner added, “A lot of people who are being paid the minimum wage are being paid that because they come to the workforce with no skills and this makes it harder for them to acquire the skills they need in order to climb that ladder successfully.”
