Linda Pugach Dies in NYC at Age 75

Linda Pugach died this week at age 75. She was the woman who became blind in 1959 when her lover, lawyer Burt Pugach, hired hit men to throw lye in her face. The most controversial story about Linda was when she married Burt years later.

Burt was convicted of masterminding the attack and spent 14 years in prison. After his release, he divorced his first wife and wooed Linda back — the marriage proposal was all done in live TV. All these years, Burt has denied he was ever involved in the attack.

“It was a fairytale romance,” Burt Pugach, 85, said Thursday after Linda was laid to rest in Paramus, N.J. “We loved each other so much.”

“I don’t know how I’m going to go on without her,” he said.

The infamous New York City crime and love story was detailed in the 2007 documentary “Crazy Love.”
