Cruise Ship Rescues Man in Raft Off of Tasmania (VIDEO)
A cruise ship rescued Alain Delord, 63, who had spent three days adrift in treacherous conditions on a life raft in the Southern Ocean off the coast of Tasmania in Australia.
Delord participated in the solo round-the-world voyage when the mast on his yacht broke due to bad weather at sea.
On Sunday, the luxury cruise ship MV Orion sighted the French sailor and had to change course from a trip to Antarctica to save him.
According to authorities, he is “currently receiving medical attention and early indications are that he is healthy.”
