Yellow Sac Spiders Cause Mazda Recall

It sounds funny. No, it sounds horrifying. Imagine spiders inside your car and then biting you while on a 75mph drive. Yes, the reason why Mazda recalls its cars, about 65,000 units of 2009-2010 Mazda 6s, is because of the yellow sac spider, which Mazda confirmed nests in tiny rubber hoses linked to fuel tank systems.

The spiders can cause pressurization and ventilation problems in certain cars.

Owners of recalled cars will be notified within the next few weeks. Dealers who find evidence of the spiders will clean out or replace the hoses and, if necessary, swap out the gas tank.
