Mehserle Verdict Reached – Mehserle Trial Ends

Mehserle Verdict has been reached. The former San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit police Officer Johannes Mehserle who killed unarmed detainee Oscar Grant on Jan. 1, 2009 has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter by the jury. Mehserle, 28, claimed it was an accident, that he thought he was firing a Taser instead of a handgun at the detainee.

The jury who saw the videotape of the shooting, thought it was a crime, not an accident.

Johannes Mehserle sentencing will come on August 6.
