Duquesne Light Important Outage Information -February Storm

RESTORATION EFFORTS BRING SOME CUSTOMERS BACK ON LINE; APPROXIMATELY 38,750 CUSTOMERS OUT OF SERVICE

Duquesne Light Noon update: 2-6-2010 — The winter storm of 2010 continues to cause problems for Duquesne Light customers this morning, as approximately 38,750 customers in Allegheny and Beaver counties are without electrical service this morning.

Last night’s heavy, wet snow has caused limbs and trees to break and fall into power lines, causing disruption to customers. Compounding the problem is road conditions, slowing crews from reaching some areas.

Because of the nature of the storm, there is currently no estimated restoration time. Crews are working as quickly as possible to restore service.

For their safety, residents are urged to take caution and avoid downed wires. Do not drive over wires nor attempt to move them, nor should residents try to remove trees and branches from wires.

Residents are also asked to please report any outages by calling Duquesne Light at 1-888-393-7000.
