Poll: Scott Brown leads over Martha Coakley

A new poll released by Suffolk University shows a statistical dead heat in the Massachusetts Senate race.

State Senator Republican Scott Brown takes the lead among likely voters over the state’s Attorney General Martha Coakley- 50% to 46%. With a margin of error of 4.4% this race is neck-in-neck.

Heavy hitters from both parties will hit Massachusetts today- weighing in on the ultra-competitive race.

It’s a face-off between former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani who is stumping for Republican candidate Scott Brown and former President Bill Clinton on the trail for Democrat Martha Coakley.

While Brown has repeatedly called on outsiders to stay out of the race, urging a focus on the issues instead, he is now welcoming help from “America’s Mayor.” The pair will stroll Boston’s North End- the city’s Italian section- shaking hands and doing some old-fashioned retail politicking. Republicans hope Giuliani’s presence will help reinforce Brown’s message that he’ll be tougher on terrorists than his opponent.
