Michael Vick plays for the Redskins?

[Dolphins Have No Interest In Michael Vick]
Scratch off another team on the possible destination list for reinstated NFL quarterback Michael Vick. On Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins announced they won’t pursue signing Vick. The move isn’t a surprise for Dolphins fans as the team has quality depth at the quarterback position, including running quarterback Pat White, who was drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

[Eagles’ Jim Johnson Dies]
Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson died Tuesday afternoon, the Eagles announced. Johnson was 68 and had been on a leave of absence from the team to undergo cancer treatments.

Mark Kotsay’s time in Boston came full circle yesterday. Baseball’s trading season effectively marked the beginning and end of his Red Sox career.

[Brett Favre Staying Retired]
Quarterback Brett Favre has decided to remain retired rather than playing this season for the Minnesota Vikings, the team has announced. After Favre informed the club of his decision, Vikings Coach Brad Childress said in a written statement on the team’s website: “It was a rare and unique opportunity to consider adding not only a future Hall of Fame quarterback but one that is very familiar with our system and division. That does not detract from the team that we have. As we have consistently communicated, we feel good about our team and they have put forth a tremendous effort this offseason preparing for the season ahead. With this behind us, we look forward to getting to Mankato and getting training camp under way.”

[White Sox land Kotsay for Brian Anderson]
Brian Anderson got his wish to be traded, and in the process, the White Sox apparently have added a valuable veteran piece to their bench for the playoff push over the next two months. Anderson, 27, was traded to Boston in exchange for Mark Kotsay and cash considerations on Tuesday. Kotsay, 33, is a .281 hitter with 110 home runs and 614 RBIs over 13 Major League seasons. He batted .257 with one homer and five RBIs in 27 games for the Red Sox in 2009 before being designated for assignment on July 24.
