A new study published in the journal “Molecular Nutrition & Food Research” found that pomegranate extract can slow down the process in your gut that creates a harmful substance called TMAO, which has been linked to heart problems and metabolic diseases.

Here’s what happens:

When we eat foods like red meat and eggs, our gut bacteria turn parts of them into TMA. Our liver then turns them into TMAO. Too much TMAO = bad news for your heart.

But in lab tests, pomegranate extract reduced how much TMA was made, especially when more of it was used. This means pomegranate might help keep your heart healthier by working with your gut.

Another reason to enjoy pomegranates!
