Putting Together The Perfect Night In
When it’s cold and wet outside, there’s nothing nicer than spending cosy evenings indoors. It’s a chance to relax, unwind and celebrate the season. While a nice long walk on a crisp autumn day is great, for the most part, autumn is a a chilly and blustery time of year so it’s all about getting out of the wind and rain and enjoying your home. If you’re planning on having a cosy night in, here are a few things to consider!
Make your surroundings cosy
First things first, you’ll want to make sure your home is autumn/ winter ready. Invest in some cosy blankets to snuggle up with on the sofa, some squashy cushions and some nice scented candles. You could use decorative fairy lights in jars to set a soft light, or look into smart bulbs which allow you to adjust the colour temperature and brightness with the click of a button.
Have a hot bath or shower
If you’ve come in from a long day at work or spending time outside, a hot bath or shower is the perfect way to warm up. If you have luxurious products that you’re keeping, don’t be afraid to use them! Scented oils and bath salts, good quality moisturisers, bath bombs- don’t keep them for best. Use them up, you’ll start your night in feeling pampered and relaxed. Change into your comfiest pyjamas and you’re ready to set off the night on a good note.
Find things to do
The trick to fully enjoying your night in is to find things to do. If you’re planning it ahead of time, keep an eye out for things like movies and series that you can record to watch. If you use a Kodi box, make sure everything is working properly, there are ways to find missing subtitles on Kodi and fix other issues so you don’t have to mess around on the night. You could read books or magazines, play computer games or board games if you’re spending your night in with others. You could meditate or whatever else you enjoy doing. With the internet at your fingertips there’s plenty of content to be consumed, if you have some interesting things saved then you’ll have lots to keep you occupied.
Serve up tasty food and drink
Autumn weather causes us all to want comfort food. If you enjoy cooking you could put a stew, curry or other winter warmer into the slow cooker in the morning giving you a home cooked meal by the evening. If you want to treat yourself, you could order your favorite takeaway. If you’re going to be watching movies or tv, some snacks while you watch could be worth purchasing, you could serve a mug of hot chocolate or pour a glass of wine to complement the evening too.
We all lead busy lives, sometimes an evening just to sit around and relax is exactly what’s needed.
