Mac Your Life Easier With A Longer Lifespan For Your MacBook

Technology is improving at a fast rate. In as little as the last ten years, we’ve seen some astoundingly space-age upgrades which have made every business and personal matter that bit easier You could say that we’re living in the future, and damn, doesn’t it feel great?

As technology improves, though, a strange phenomenon is emerging. As machines get better, their lifespans seem to shorten. We’ve all joked about how old Nokia’s still work now, while iPhones from as little as four years ago are pretty obsolete. And, the same can be said for laptops. If you tried to start up an early-model laptop even now, the chances are that it would boot up first time. Yet, a Macbook from 2006 is considered an ancient relic, and they’re about the longest-lasting devices we have today!

In some ways, this is inevitable. We forever need for our machines to do more with less space. Not to mention that the need for continual upgrades can, in itself, reduce lifespans. Apple is forever coming under fire for their OS system upgrades, for instance, but we’d soon start complaining if they just let Macbooks fall behind.

This may seem like a first world problem, and it is. But, it’s a pressing priority in a world where the majority of us rely on laptops for work. And, with Macbooks taking center stage, there are hoarders of people asking the question – ‘How can I extend the life of my Macbook?’

Conduct a regular clean up

Regular clean-ups are vital for longer Mac lives. You should clean everything from your keyboard to your internal components often. Doing so can help to avoid overheating which could reduce lifespan if it happened too often. You should also clean the stuff you have on your computer using programs like CleanMyMac X as mentioned in this comparison review. This will allow you to clear space by getting rid of unused applications or unnecessary files. And, that can extend lifespan by making sure that your Mac never becomes sluggish or slow in its old(er) age.

Fight the battery battle

Mac batteries are a common culprit of shortened lifespans. They seem to do an awful job at holding their charges as they age. What many Macbook owners don’t realize is that there’s a simple solution to this – get a replacement! As long as you know what battery you need, you can buy a replacement either brand new or second hand. Put the new battery in place, and your Mac should run like new again. If in doubt about whether this is necessary, check the operation lights which show on your battery. If the bar is low, the battery should go.

Don’t forget maintenance

Maintenance is vital for every gadget, and your Mac is no different. Inside your Disk Utility, you should find a ‘Disk first aid feature.’ This can verify and repair system problems, and running it regularly can keep all drives operating at their peak for a long time yet!
