Philippines: Price of Rice Drops Says Secretary Manny Piñol

Philippine Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol announced that the price of rice has dropped after receiving reports from different regions about the 5-peso price drop per kilo of rice.

He said that this is the biggest drop in rice prices since it started rising at the start of the year.

Piñol said the price of rice per kilogram has lowered by P4 to P5 in Cabanatuan and La Union.

Piñol further assured of the steady downgrade of the rice price by the end of this month when the government has implemented the suggested retail price (SRP) for the four varieties.
