Fantastic Fun Sports You Must Try Before You Die
On our little section of the web, we love adventuring and sports often combining the two for some exhilarating experiences. We think that sports can be a fantastic way to get the most out of your life, pushing your body to the max and getting your blood pumping. If you are interested in this idea, there are some fantastic sports that you need to try at least once in your life. These sports are guaranteed to excite, delight and entertain. Some are team sports while others are things that you can participate in solo and still have an amazing time. So, let’s get started and take to the skies with the first possibility.
Falling Through The Air
There are a lot of sports that allow you to feel like you’re flying. We might add a few more to this list before we’re done, but we’ll start with skydiving. If you have never been skydiving, you should definitely give it ago. Unless you have back problems, a weak heart or you’re scared of heights there’s no reason not to. It can be an experience you’ll never forget, and it only lasts a couple of minutes.
Where can you skydive? – You’ll find skydiving experiences all over regardless of what country you’re visiting. You can even skydive above the Nepal mountains and see Everest from a brand new perspective. It’s an insane possibility, and it’s just one of the reasons this sport is so fantastic.
The main difference depending on where you skydive will be how high you are when you jump out of the plane. Some places will take you up to ten thousand feet. Others will be more like fifteen thousand. It’s the same type of experience, but you do get a little more airtime. If you want to get started, you’re probably looking at tandem skydiving before flying solo. With this activity, you’ll be attached to a more experienced diver. You’ll do this for at least a couple of dives before you’re allowed to drop by yourself.
You might have heard of base jumping. This is like skydiving, but it’s far more dangerous. Why is it dangerous? Rather than jumping out a plane, you jump off a building or the side of a cliff. There’s a lot less time between the jump and when to pull the chute or when to hit the ground.
Shooting For The Goal
Yes, we do think football should be on your list of sports to try before you die. Or, for our American readers, we’re talking about soccer. Now, this might seem like a fairly dull option compared with skydiving, but it really isn’t. Football will test every part of you from your endurance to your coordination and your ability to problem solve. With football, you have more time than say basketball to plan your next move. But your opponent also has time to figure out how to block you. It’s a slower game and can be seen as the sporting equivalent of chess. It’s also fantastic fun and one of the sports where you really do feel completely connected to the other members of your team.
Is it exhilarating? You bet and if you don’t believe that you clearly haven’t seen someone hit the ground hard after a rough tackle. Yes, it can also be a dangerous game and temperatures can get quite heated on the field.
Where you can try this sport? – You’ll find events and pitches all over the place. Sites like Powerleague.co.uk can point you in the right direction helping you find a place to play. You’ll find enthusiasts everywhere to share a game with and who knows, you might find this to be your new true sports love.
Water Rider
Another sport for the guys and girls flying solo that is particularly popular with the tourist crowd. After all, if you’re going to get knocked off your board by a fifty-foot wave, you want it to be in tropical waters. But, plenty of countries with colder climates love this sport too. For instance, if you’re in the UK Cornwall is the surfing capital come rain or shine. Interestingly, your first couple of lessons you’ll be on the sand learning how to stand on your board. Believe it or not staying upright is often the hardest part.
If you don’t want to try your luck in the real waters of the world, there are plenty or indoor pools purely for surfing with cool wave machines. You can even try out the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon in Disney World every Saturday morning. It’s great fun and gives you the chance to learn this sport in a safe environment.
Is it dangerous? It can be, and some people do drown when trying to surf. You have to be particularly careful that a current below the surface doesn’t pull you down. Trust us when we say the water is far more dangerous than the rare possibility of a shark mistaking your leg for a tasty fish.
Take A Leap Of Faith
Ah, another sport where you’ll be able to hurl yourself off the side of a tall place. Only this time, you won’t have a parachute to break your fall. Nope, cliff divers hit the water…hard. You have to be careful of rocks and that the strength of a wave doesn’t smash your body into the side of the headland or even pull you under. It’s one of the most dangerous activities in the world, but it does have a hardcore following.
Where can you try it? – We hear it’s most popular on the shore of Australia though really anywhere the waters warm enough to dive in there’s bound to be someone crazy enough to try this.
The Most Peaceful Sport In The World
It’s probably golf. Golf might seem a bit boring but takes a tremendous amount of skill, and if you’re good, it can be really rewarding. As well as this, the courses are pure works of art. You can have a fun trip taking a tour of the best golf courses in the world from the shores of the USA to Scotland where they invented the beloved sport. Perhaps this is a sport that you should try when you retire, but we still think it deserves a spot on this list. Learn how to play on Golf4Beginners.co.uk.
Have you tried these sports or do you have some others you’d like to give a go before you die?
