Top 3 Music Streaming Services Of 2016
Previously on this site, we posted about the best devices to listen to music on. As a follow-up, here are the best streaming services to listen to music on in 2016:
Spotify
If you ask most people where they listen to their music, they’ll tell you they use Spotify. This streaming service has become the most popular of all the ones out there. It has a free service that’s great if you don’t mind listening to adverts now and them. Every so often you have to listen to an advert and then get the next half hour or so free of ads. If you hate adverts, then there are various subscription packages available. The premium service lets you listen to music and download it whenever you want for a fee each month. You can also get this service with a discounted fee if you’re a student. They also offer family plans which are handy if your whole family uses it and you can save some cash. Spotify has a huge range of artists for people to enjoy and keeps adding new ones every day. You can also get a free 30 day trial of the premium service before you commit to a contract.
Soundcloud
Soundcloud is different to other streaming sites in that it’s completely free and there are no contracts to be bought. What’s more, the music is ad-free, so there are no interruptions. The catch is that you don’t get a lot of mainstream music and artists on there. But, this doesn’t mean you can’t find some unknown gems and great remixes of popular songs. To add to this, Soundcloud is the best site for upcoming artists too. It’s easy to upload and stream your music to millions of people that use the service. You can even buy Soundcloud plays to make your music stand out more. All in all, it’s a brilliant free service that’s very useful for aspiring artists.
Apple Music
One of the newest streaming services on the scene is Apple Music. Released by the tech giants, it’s very similar to Spotify but differs in the music selection. A few big name artists have released their music solely on Apple’s streaming service in the last year or so. Similarly, they often get exclusive releases before any other service. There’s a free trial for a month, but after that, there’s only paid options. Once again there are student discounts and family plans too. The service itself lets you listen to songs and download them for offline use too. You can also choose from the various curated playlists and see the top songs in the charts too. When it comes to paid streaming services, it’s a close fight between Apple Music and Spotify.
These are the top three music streaming sites of this year! Now, it’s time for a couple of honorable mentions. Google’s offering of Google Play Music is close to making this list but loses it for its poor design and bad playlists. Deezer is another decent one, but there’s not much point in going for it when you can pay for Apple or Spotify or get Soundcloud for free!
