Now in its 12th year, the parade will welcome back actors and noted supporters of our veterans Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna, along with celebrity chef and UK veteran Robert Irvine, legendary astronaut and Korean War veteran Buzz Aldrin, Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell, and musical performances by American Idol winner Trent Harmon and award-winning country music stars John Michael Montgomery and Phil Vassar.
The parade will also feature more than 40 military, high school and college bands from states across the U.S., historical re-enactors, veterans organizations, and more than 1,000 active duty military personnel. Organized as a moving timeline saluting American military history, the parade will proceed along Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th St., NW.
Veterans from every conflict from World War II to Iraq and Afghanistan will be represented in this year’s parade. In honor of the 75th anniversary of the end of the United States in World War II, the Veterans of World War II will serve as this year’s Grand Marshals. In addition to this anniversary, the parade will commemorate two other significant moments of American valor and sacrifice: the 25th anniversary of the Gulf War, and the 15th anniversary of September 11th.
