Sir Andrew Wiles Proof and Solution of Fermat’s Last Theorem
Sir Andrew Wiles was named the winner by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters for providing a proof and solution for Fermat’s Last Theorem. This is the problem that stumped some of the world’s greatest minds for three and a half centuries.
French mathematician Pierre de Fermat came up with the theorem in 1637.
Wiles worked for 7 years, most of the times in his attic without telling anyone except his wife, to solve Fermat’s Last Theorem.
