Roussel Osena Tan: Alleged Customs Employee Earns Ire From OFWs

A post on Facebook from a certain Roussel Osena Tan, an alleged Bureau of Customs (BOC) employee, has earned the ire of thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) online. This was after Ms. Tan defended the BoC in its strict inspection of the balikbayan boxes.

Tan asked the OFWs to consider BOC’s position, pointing out that that some OFWs do not correctly declare the contents of their packages.

“Alam nyo ba na me nagpadala ng undeclared item ang kapwa nyo kaya naghigpit ang customs… Ayan pinapakita ko sa inyo na me nagpadala ng balikbayan box and dineclara sa forwarder eh personal effects ng makita dto sa Customs kasi hnd sya ung kasing laki ng mga balikbayan box ito ay 100% examination.. At ng buksan ito ang hnd carton ito ay brand new refrigerator na hnd dineclare,” Tan said.

Whether it was posted from a real account of Roussel Osena Tan or not, or whether Tan is indeed a BOC employee, her remarks has already gone viral and OFWs are responding.

Update: Roussel Osena Tan clarified during an ABS-CBN interview that the posts, such as below, were not hers but from others who created fake Facebook accounts with her name.
