Fort Snelling National Cemetery and the Bald Eagle Perching on Gravestone in Minnesota
Now this is touching. A bald eagle was photographed perching on a gravestone at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota way back in 2011. And in time for Memorial Day, the photo has gone viral.
The photo was shot by amateur photographer Frank Glick and was featured in a June 2011 column in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Glick said that he was on his way to work when he witnessed this moment and took a picture. He then contacted the family connected to the gravestone the eagle was sitting on and met the widow of Maurice Ruch. The widow said that she was delighted to see the eagle watching over her husband.
