‘Lip Sync Battle’ Season 2 Gets Green Light by Spike TV

Lip Sync Battle” is a ratings and multiplatform superstar for Spike TV. As a result, the network has announced it will pick up another 20 episodes of the highly-rated critically-acclaimed series, debuting in 2016.

“Lip Sync Battle is a television and viral rock star for Spike,” proclaimed Kevin Kay, President, Spike. “We are thrilled to be renewing Lip Sync Battle whose success is a direct result of the brilliance and creativity of our producers, the brave performers, and of course the coolest new duo on television, LL COOL J and Chrissy Teigen.”

Through four episodes, “Lip Sync Battle” is the most-watched original series in network history, averaging 3 million viewers, and is the top-rated series in its timeslot in the coveted demographic of Adults 18-49 in all of cable. The series is a digital hit as well, amassing over 107 million video streams in three weeks, with the Anne Hathaway “Wrecking Ball” clip securing 14 million views alone.

Other ratings highlights include:

– Across 50 airings (Spike, MTV & BET) between 4/2 and 4/19, “Lip Sync Battle” reached 33.1 million viewers (including 16.5 million women)

– The highest rated series in network history with Adults 18-49

– The most watched program of any kind in network history with women in all demos

Spike TV’s “Lip Sync Battle” is hosted by LL COOL J and directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller (“Saturday Night Live,” “30 Rock”), is executive produced by Casey Patterson, Jay Peterson of Matador Content, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant, and Eight Million Plus Productions.
