Free Internet In The Philippines Using Internet.org App
Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, announced on Wednesday that the free internet in the Philippines has launched.
We’re one step closer to connecting the world as we launched Internet.org in the Philippines today. Now everyone in the country can have free access to internet services for health, education, jobs and communication on the Smart network.
Here’s a photo of Jaime, a driver in Manila who uses Facebook and the internet to stay in touch with loved ones who moved to Dubai.
How can you avail of the free internet? The free internet works only for Smart subscribers in the Philippines. You need to download the Internet.org App, first.
With this app, people can browse a set of useful health, employment and local information services without data charges. By providing free basic services via the app, Facebook hopes to bring more people online and help them discover valuable services they might not have otherwise.
Can you access all the websites you want? Based on posts online, no. Online basic services are available for the free internet. For example, when the app was launched in Zambia, this is the list of the online services that customers have access to:
AccuWeather
Airtel
eZeLibrary
Facebook
Facts for Life
Google Search
Go Zambia Jobs
Kokoliko
MAMA (Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action)
Messenger
Wikipedia
WRAPP (Women’s Rights App)
Zambia uReport
Facebook will soon post the basic online services that can be accessed in the Philippines.
