Spiders on Bananas Found: Could Be Viagra Spiders on TESCO Bananas?
Could this be a ‘Viagra spider’? The spider with a bite that can cause a host of unpleasant symptoms, including a hours-long painful erections and death?
Maria Layton, of Bristol, posted this photo of a banana on the Tesco Facebook page after she was surprised to find something in it. She found the bananas, shipped from Costa Rica, were infested with eggs from the Brazilian Wandering Spider – the most deadly in the world.
“I just found this on a banana my husband bought from tesco. Does it look like a spider cocoon to anyone? I called Tesco three times and was told to bring it back to the store. I opened the bag and chucked it in the bin before I spotted this thing. Should I take the bin to the store too and my fruit bowl? Would Tesco like to come round to check whether any baby spiders are in our house?”
Tesco has replied to Maria’s posting saying:
Tesco Hello Maria,
I’m really sorry about this, this does not look very nice.
Could you possibly send us the barcode, the date code and also the SC number which is usually found by the Tesco address?
Also, could you please tell us which store you bought this from and how much?
Finally, could you Private Message your name and full address so we can send out a Moneycard in the post as an apology for this.
Kind regards
Karl – Customer Care
When Maria replied that she was concerned about the banana being in my house and the wrapper being in the bin, Tesco representative replied:
Hi Maria,
Thanks for your response.
I fully appreciate your concerns over this issue and we will need to you to return the item\packaging back to the store with the receipt so a refund and full investigation into the foreign body can take place with the suppliers.
Thanks again,
Rich – Customer Care
