Shooting At USC Campus, Two People Reported Dead
There has been a reported shooting at USC Campus Thursday afternoon. The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division said that the shooting just after 1 p.m. in the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina was a murder-suicide.
SLED Spokesman Thom Berry said that the shooting was “isolated.” Berry would not say if the two that were dead were students or faculty.
“There was no active shooter situation, other than the two individuals that are now deceased and were involved in this situation,” he added.
The Arnold School of Public Health is located on Assembly Street. Assembly and College Street were shut down while police respond to the situation.
The Columbia Police Department and the U.S. Marshal’s office were assisting in the investigation.
USC said any healthy classes and classes in the Public Health Research Center have been cancelled for the rest of Thursday.
