Indianapolis Star Racist Cartoon About Immigrants and Thanksgiving (PHOTO)
The Indianapolis Star racist cartoon that was published Friday, showed a family of apparently Latino immigrants, led by a man with mustache, climbing in the window of a white family’s home to join in their Thanksgiving dinner. The white father is telling his family, “Thanks to the president’s immigration order, we’ll be having extra guests this Thanksgiving.”
Below, you can see the first image (left) that was published on Friday. After readers complained of racist overtones, the image was edited (right) with the Latino man’s mustache had been removed.
The Star has eventually deleted the cartoon and executive editor Jeff Taylor issued an apology saying “we erred in publishing it”:
Cartoons are seldom intended to be read literally. And Gary did not intend this one to be viewed that way. He intended to illustrate the view of many conservatives and others that the president’s order will encourage more people to pour into the country illegally.
