VAPE: Word of the Year 2014 Says Oxford Dictionaries
It is the verb VAPE. Oxford Dictionaries just picked the Word of the Year for 2014.
Meaning of Vape: A verb meaning to inhale or exhale the vapour produced by an electronic cigarette.
The words “bae” and “contactless” were named as runners-up.
Oxford Dictionaries said the word only began to appear regularly in mainstream sources around 2009 and the usage of ‘Vape’ has doubled in 2014 compared to 2013, editorial director Judy Pearsall said.
‘Vape’ joins previous winners such as ‘selfie’, ‘gif’ and ‘unfriend’.
