Boy Shoots Sister Accidentally in the Chest While Playing With Stolen Gun

A 12-year-old boy shoots sister, 9 years old, accidentally while playing with a loaded gun. In a report from NJ:

At about 12:18 p.m., officers responded to a home on the 200 block of Renner Avenue on reports that a child was injured, and found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, Sgt. Ronald Glover said in an email.

New Jersey authorities learned that the girl’s 12-year-old brother was playing with an unsecured 9 mm handgun when she was shot, Glover said.

The children’s mother, Catrease Thomas, 33, now faces child endangerment charges, says FOX News. The girl remained hospitalized Sunday in critical but stable condition.

It was also found that the loaded 9-mm gun had been reported stolen in Alabama. Cops said charges were also pending against Thomas’ boyfriend.
