Time Capsule Found in Baltimore: What Is Inside The Box?
As workers were renovating of the original Washington Monument in Baltimore, they were stunned by what they discovered. A 100-year-old time capsule was hidden behind behind a plaque, placed in front of a niche to commemorate the monument’s centennial, on Defender’s Day, Sept. 12, 1915.
What is inside the box? For now, nobody knows. However, monument officials said that the time capsule may contain commemorative programs and copies of The Baltimore Sun, among other items.
According to the report, the box will be transferred at the Walters Art Museum for safekeeping while restoration work on the Washington Monument continues.
Eventually, the box will be opened. Conservationists fear that the contents have been exposed to dampness for nearly a century, they may not survive an opening.
No date has been set of when to open it.
