Vet Removes Dog’s Eye Without Permission: Kimberly Hayden’s Pug Is Recovering

Poor pug! Kimberly Hayden’s pug named Cloe was supposed to be a routine “follow up” at the Banfield Pet Hospital in St. Petersburg. However, to the surprise of Hayden, her dog was given back to her with only one eye left. The vet removed the dog’s eye without her permission.

In an interview with FOX13, Hayden said “I completely broke down.”

Days before the incident, Cloe was given three different eye drops for an eye irritation. According to the report, the hospital allegedly cautioned that Chloe may need surgery but Hayden says she never gave the vet that kind of consent.

Banfield Pet Hospital has already issued an apology for the mistake, saying that the surgery was “medically necessary based on the severity of her condition and lack of response to therapy…”

Hayden is determined to sue the hospital for the surgery.
