NYPD: Ebola Doctor Lied of His Travels in New York City
Dr. Craig Spencer was diagnosed with Ebola six days after returning to New York on October 17.
He was a Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontiers) volunteer who went to Guinea to help fight Ebola on September 16.
When asked by authorities, Spencer said that he quarantined himself in his Harlem apartment upon his arrival. Later it was found out that he traveled around the city for six days, when cops checked his MetroCard and bank statement. He visited a sandwich shop, took an Uber cab, and went bowling.
It was on October 23 that he began to feel feverish, at which point he called Medecins Sans Frontiers who informed the New York Health Department. He was immediately quarantined.
