After the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Russia will hold the 2018 games and then Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup. It will be the first World Cup in the Middle East, and the first in Asia since 2002. The tournament will involve 32 national teams, including that of the host nation, assuming the current format of the finals is maintained.
As early as now, Qatar has been preparing for the venues of the soccer games! There have been artist impressions coming out showing Qatar’s 2022 World Cup stadiums. All of them look impressive!

The Al-Wakrah stadium complex in Qatar.
The Sports City stadium in Qatar is pictured in this artists impression. The stadium draws it’s inspiration from the traditional Arabian tent “architecture”.
The Umm Slal stadium in Qatar is pictured in this artists impression. The architectural concept takes it’s inspiration from a nearby beautiful old fort.
The Al-Rayyan stadium in Qatar has been designed to include a “media facade” that includes a membrane that acts as a screen for projections; news, commercials, sports updates and current tournament information and matches.
The Doha Port stadium in Qatar has a shape reminiscent of a marine animal.
The Al-Gharafa stadium in Qatar will have a facade made up of the colours of the flags of all countries that have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to symbolise football and the friendship, respect and understanding.
The Al-Shamal stadium in Qatar has a shape derived from the traditional “dhow”, the local fishing boats of the Arabian Gulf.
