Myrtle Beach Shooting At The South Carolina Resort City Kills Five
Five people were shot and three were killed Saturday night in downtown Myrtle Beach.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identifies the victims as Jamie Williams, 28, of Ladson, Devonte Dantzler, 21, of Summerville, and Sandy Gaddis Barnwell, 22, of Summerville. He says all three victims died from trauma to vital organs due to gunshot wounds.
According to Captain David Knipes, one of the shootings happened between 6th Avenue South and 7th Avenue South on Ocean Boulevard after 11pm.
Knipes said another shooting was reported a short time later at the Bermuda Sands Motel on North Ocean Boulevard.
Williams, Dantzler, and Barnwell were found shot to death. Another man suffered a gunshot wound at the motel, according to Knipes. Two of the victims were found on a second story breezeway.
One man was shot at the 6th Avenue location. He was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery for his wounds, Knipes said. He said Myrtle Beach Police did not fire any shots Saturday night.
Knipes said police had no one in custody for the shootings at the time of this posting. These shootings do not appear to be related.
The Bermuda Sands shooting shut down parts of Ocean Boulevard Saturday night, but it is reopen to traffic as normal on Sunday morning, according to Myrtle Beach Police Lt. Doug Furlong. He says the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division will send crime scene units to assist MBPD in the investigation.
