Since New Year’s Day is observed as a U.S. holiday, what stores are open on New Year’s Day 2013?

Government offices, schools, and the post offices will be closed on January 1st. Most banks will be closed too. Also, not all major retailers will be open on New Year’s Day.

Are Walmart, Kmart, Target, Best Buy, Walgreens open?

Best Buy: Stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, but will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Costco: Stores will open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and will reopen for business the following day, on New Year’s Day.

Kmart: Stores will have regular business hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Macy’s: Stores will have regular business hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Target: Store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and will be open during regular business hours on New Year’s Day.

Walgreens: Most stores will have regular hours on New Year’s Eve from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Most stores may even open on New Year’s Day.

Walmart: Most stores will have normal business hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
