Thanksgiving Storm Boreas Threatens South and Northeast
Winter Thanksgiving Storm Boreas threatened the southern Rockies and is expected to bring more snow, sleet and freezing rain into parts of the South and East through Wednesday. According to the weather channel, Boreas has caused at least nine deaths storm-related deaths from California to Texas.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for chunks of North Texas from noon Sunday until midday Monday. The system is expected to bring nasty conditions into the Southern Plains, Southeast and eventually the Northeast during the next five days.
Arizona
Flagstaff in Arizona had 11 inches of snow by early Sunday, and was expected to get another inch by the end of the day before the storm petered out. Metro Phoenix and other parts of central Arizona received between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches of rain over the course of the storm. The storms caused cancellations of sporting events and parades and damaged the roofs of homes across Arizona.
Oklahoma
Parts of Oklahoma are also under a winter storm warning and areas of southwestern Oklahoma woke up to several inches of snow. Four storm-related deaths have occurred in Oklahoma, according to the Betsy Randolph, Oklahoma Department of Public Safety spokesperson.
Texas
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for chunks of North Texas from noon Sunday until midday Monday.
