911 Operator Laughs When Caller Says His Girlfriend Is On Fire

There may have been some jokes circling around the 911 office when the operator answered the call from a desperate man. Laughs were heard on the phone call while the man, Lalo Delgado, reported that his girlfriend was caught on fire inside their car after they got into a freak accident.

Here is the 911 conversation.

911: 911 what is your emergency?
Caller: My car just kinda caught on fire, my girlfriend caught on fire.

911: Is your girlfriend still on fire?
Caller: No.
911: No?
(laughter in background)
911: Ok. (chuckles) Umm… Is your vehicle still on fire?
Caller:It’s hilarious huh?
911: Sir, is your vehicle still on fire?
Caller: I just heard you smirk… Inaudible.
911: Ok, sir it wasn’t regarding that ok.
Caller: Yeah, I just heard you laugh.

Delgado was not happy about the operator laughing at him, “You’re calling for help, you shouldn’t be laughed at.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department admits their dispatcher messed up and investigation is now ongoing.
