Dunkin Donuts Blackface Ad: Company Issues Apology
We have posted the Chocolate Dunkin Donuts Ad here. It is the Dunkin Donuts blackface ad campaign in Thailand that has generated complaints for being being racist.
Dunkin’ Donuts has apologized for the “insensitivity” of an advertising campaign.
“We are working with our Thailand franchisee to immediately pull the ad. DD recognizes the insensitivity of this spot,” Dunkin’ Donuts said in a tweet posted on its official U.S. website.
“It’s both bizarre and racist that Dunkin’ Donuts thinks that it must color a woman’s skin black and accentuate her lips with bright pink lipstick to sell a chocolate doughnut,” said Phil Robertson, the deputy Asia director for Human Rights Watch. “Dunkin’ Donuts should immediately withdraw this ad, publicly apologize to those it’s offended and ensure this never happens again.”
Why all of the apologies? You think someone would just accept the fact that it’s advertising. Does everyone have to cry about everything? Personally I think if “Black” people are worried about their image, they might try to act a little different. How about stop crying victim every time someone you turn around. To me it seems, this ad would make people think of something sweet and delicious when they see a black person(who’s really black?) As long as people think in color, we as a society will never advance. We are just tumbling backwards into the abyss of self pity and manipulation. Because that’s all it is. If you act like a punk, you’re a punk. If you cry like a baby, well, you get my point. Stand up and be a “HUMAN”! Stop crying about everything and move forward. Sorry, Jessie, Al, and any other racist individual out there. I’m not White! And what damn color is Caucasian? It’s not in the Crayola Box! I am a HUMAN. An American. And I vary from a light tan, to a dark tan color. And the first thing I thought when I saw that picture in “THE AD” was delicious
Phil Robertson needs to get himself a REAL JOB ! get over it already. Help some homeless hungry kids and prevent trafficking
helpless individuals.
