Fast Food Strikes Demanding Minimum Wage Increase To Go Nationwide
Organizers say thousands of fast-food workers are set to stage strikes in dozens of cities around the country, part of a push to get chains such as McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Wendy’s to pay workers higher wages.
Here is the break-down of current pay and what fast food workers in Indianapolis are asking:
– Current Minimum Wage: $7.25
– Annual Income: $13,920
– Demanding: $15
– Annual Income: $28,000
President Obama has called for increasing the minimum wage to $9 an hour – still far below what the workers are demanding.
Its the largest-ever strike to hit the fast-food industry, expecting to cost restaurant chains $200 billion.
