Philippine Fugitive Janet Napoles Finally Surrenders To Authorities

Janet Napoles, the Filipino fugitive businesswoman allegedly behind a P10-billion pork barrel scam, surrendered to President Benigno Aquino on Wednesday night, August 28th. Apart from her involvement on the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), Napoles was wanted on charges of serious illegal detention arising from the alleged kidnapping of pork-barrel scam whistle-blower Benhur Luy.

Here is the official statement from the the Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Edwin Lacierda regarding the surrender:

“At 9:37 p.m on August 28, Janet Napoles surrendered to President Aquino. Napoles is wanted on charges of serious illegal detention arising from the alleged kidnapping of Benhur Luy.

The President turned her over to the custody of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Philippine National Police Director-General Alan Purisima for processing and booking.”
