Simi Valley Shooting Leaves One Mother Dead

Officials said a SWAT team was called to a Simi Valley home Saturday to capture a suspect believed to have killed his mother.

Following a 911 call where a man said his brother had shot and killed their mother, SWAT arrived and found the woman dead.

Neighbors called police and said they heard gunfire in the 1100 block of Mellow Lane.

The neighbors also said the man was driving down the street, on a tractor, firing a weapon.

One witness said he heard the gunfire and then encountered the man.

“He came by me and I said,’Are you shooting up there?’ Then he looks at me with the gun and I said, ‘Oh, you are shooting up there.’ He stared at me with this really weird look on his face,” said Norm Travena.

Unconfirmed reports said the gunman is also dead.
