Santa Monica Shooting Injures At Least Three People (VIDEO)
Santa Monica College, 2-year community college serving more than 30,000 students, has been put on lockdown Friday after a shooting was reported in the library.
Santa Monica police said they have a suspect down on the campus. The police also said that at least three people have been reported wounded and were brought to the hospital.
A man was reportedly shooting at cars just after noon. According to reports, a worker on campus heard dozens of gunshots and saw students, who are taking final exams on the campus this week, scrambling for safety.
The college issued this statement about the incident: “There have been reports of a shooter on the main SMC campus. The college is on lock-down. This means that if you are on campus, stay out of open spaces, stay in doors, lock all doors and do not open the doors until you receive an all clear from college officials. If you are off campus, do Not come to campus.”
President Barack Obama is in Santa Monica speaking at a luncheon fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee. It’s not known if the shooting is related to his presence in the city.
