Is It A Sin To Complain To God – Pope Answers
So is it a sin to complain to God? Seeing the suffering of others must change the attitude of believers. This was Pope Francis’ message at morning Mass attended by delegates of Catholic Charities in the Middle East.
Drawing from the readings of the day which recount the story of Tobit and Sara and the Gospel narrative of the Sadducees, he said “it is not a sin to complain to God”.
Pope Francis then told a story of a priest he knows, who once told a woman who complained to God about her misfortune that it was “a form of prayer”.
The Pope said “The Lord hears, He listens to our complaints. Think of the greats, of Job, when in chapter III (he says): ‘Cursed be the day I came into the world,’ and Jeremiah, in the twentieth chapter: Cursed be the day’ he says again. They both complained even cursed. But not the Lord. They complained about the situation, which is only human.”
