Two Bishops Kidnapped By Rebels in Syria (VIDEO) – UPDATED
Two Syrian bishops have been kidnapped in the northern province of Aleppo. It’s not clear who is responsible. Yohanna Ibrahim and Paul Yazigi are said to have been seized as they were carrying out humanitarian work. Muslim clerics have been targeted in the past but it is the first time two senior church leaders have been caught up in the conflict.
The two bishops’ churches – the Greek Orthodox and Syriac Orthodox Churches “of Antioch and All the East” – are both based in Damascus, with followers across the Middle East, part of a worldwide family of Orthodox churches.
