MIT Shooting Killed A Police Officer On Campus
On Thursday night, a police officer was shot and killed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, campus.
The MIT campus police officer was responding to a report of a disturbance in the area of Vassar and Main streets when he was reportedly shot multiple times. He was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased.
Authorities launched an immediate investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.
There are no other victims. No arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.
MIT’s emergency system also sent the following text to students:
“Emergency text:(ECNET):MITAlert: There is a report of an Active Shooter in the vicinity of Building 32 Stata Center. Stay clear of the area. Follow up: emergency.mit.net.”
