Airpocalypse in China Due To Worse Air Pollution

Airpocalypse in China is happening! Hundreds of millions of people are breathing in deadly air, right now, in China.

It was some of the worst pollution in recorded history. In Zhejiang province, the smog was so dense, a building that was on fire went unnoticed for hours.

People throughout Eastern and Central China are being encouraged to wear facemasks and avoid going out doors. But one famous Chinese citizen is taking it one step further.

“I felt really helpless, and the only thing I could do was find a way to express it. I bought the gas mask and wore it on my face to send two messages: one was to let people know how disgusting the situation in Beijing is, the second was to say that every person has the ability to save themselves.”

To give a comparison, the most polluted city in the US, Bakersfield, California, hit a record pollution high of 159 last year. That’s based on the US Air Quality Index. In Beijing, the level shot up to 755 on Saturday. That kind of air can lead to heart attacks and strokes.

The respiratory wards of Beijing hospitals have been flooded.

The toxic air in China’s capital, and around the country, has been a jolting wake up call to bring environmental reform in the world’s fastest growing economy.
