Detroit Airport Evacuated Over Suspicious Item (Updated)

A suspicious package caused authorities to evacuate Detroit Metro Airport’s North Terminal Monday morning. Passengers were walked to the airport’s old, unused Smith Terminal.

Update: The passenger carrying the suspicious item was not under arrest but was being detained, airport spokesman Michael Conway. An FBI official said no explosive device was found.

The device was removed from the north terminal, allowing operations to be restored. No further details were given about the suspicious device.
