$290,500 Album: The Beatles ‘Sgt. Pepper’ Sold At Auction
Look what I have found at the Heritage Auctions website — a copy of The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album, which was signed by all four band members, has been sold for $290,500.
Here is a screen shot of the sold item:
Item Description:
Beatles Signed Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Mono UK Gatefold Cover (Parlophone PMC 7027, 1967). Autographs by all four Beatles on the group’s most iconic album cover! Revolver, Abbey Road, and Rubber Soul have their lobbyists, and rightfully so, but Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is probably the most acclaimed among the Beatles’ great albums as the greatest of all. What’s not up for argument is that this signed copy of the album is one of the most spectacular jewels in our auction.
Renowned Beatles expert Perry Cox avers, “With my being thoroughly immersed in Beatles collectibles for over 30 years, it takes something extraordinarily special to excite me, but I consider this to be one of the top two items of Beatles memorabilia I’ve ever seen – the other being a signed copy of Meet The Beatles.”
This is a UK Parlophone copy of the album with characteristic high gloss cover and gatefold – beautiful! It’s accompanied by an “Official Souvenir Programme” of the fourth annual Beatles Convention of Cavern Mecca, dated August 26, 1984.
