13-Page Suicide Note Written By Mother Who Jumped Off Building

The 13-page suicide note is said to have been handwritten on small pages of notebook paper. In it, Cynthia Wachenheim apparently said she was not happy, and she considered herself a failing mother. Wachenheim wrote that she had postpartum depression, and she had blown off a therapist she was supposed to see. The note also detailed what Wachenheim planned to do. She told her husband, Hal Bacharach, she loved him, and said she was making him suffer.
The Manhattan lawyer strapped her 10-month-old son Keston in a harness to her chest and jumped out of the window in Harlem. Keston bounced off Cynthia and he managed to survive with no serious injuries. Though doctors say Keston has no physical challenges, apparently Wachenheim was convinced he had cerebral palsy.
A few hours before the mother committed suicide, neighbors heard Cynthia and her husband Hal arguing in their apartment. The couple had lived at the upscale building The Sutton for about three years. Neighbors indicate they never imagined anything like this happening.
Surely Cynthia Wachenheim’s husband, family and friends are in severe shock, and of course all are grateful Keston survived the horrible fall. Whether the 13-page suicide note will provide any solace, only they will be able to determine.
