Farmer’s Secret Castle in Surrey UK Ordered Demolished (VIDEO)
A farmer living roughly 12 miles outside of London England that had built his “secret castle house” behind 40-foot high walls straw bales has lost a court battle to save it from demolition.
The 61-year-old Robert Fidler built his castle at Honeycrock Farm in Redhill, Surrey without planning permission. The Borough Council that controls building regulations in Fidler’s town, ordered the castle be demolished as the owner failed to follow construction guidelines.
Fidler already appealed to the High Court, but a judge upheld the order to have the castle demolished.
Fidler is not done with his appeal just yet. He said that he will continue to appeal the demolition order all the way to the European Court of Human Rights.
why tear something so beautifully constructed down unneedlessly. This a is a terrific structure! I vote you tear down the local buidling committee instead..what a bunch of haughty dopes..
“We’re from the government and we’re here to help you.” Ronald Reagan said those were the most dreaded words in the English langauge. I concur.
I am sure proper paperwork was lacking, etc. A man’s home is still his castle, sometimes literally.
