New Florida Logo For Business, Sexist?
A new Florida logo for business was unveiled on Thursday and it has already gotten its dose of controversy when the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) labelled it sexist. The new logo has the word “FLORIDA” written in green letters, with the letter “I” replaced with an orange necktie.
Stuart Doyle, a spokesman for Enterprise Florida, stated that the tie is a “universal symbol of business.” However, in a Fox News report, Pamela Rogan, the President of the Central Florida Chapter of NAWBO remarked that the logo is sexist, because most women don’t wear a necktie.
“I thought immediately that it set us back, all the work that we’ve done. It’s not that they have to make it pink or ‘girlie,’ but maybe put a briefcase or something like and iPhone or a smartphone in there to represent business.”
What do you think of the new logo? Is it sexist?
