Dog Runs Over Man As Canine Hits Accelerator

The 68-year-old James Campbell was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel when he was run over by a car driven by his dog.

According to the The Florida Highway Patrol report, Campbell and his companion, Iris Fortner, 68, arrived on their home on Monday. Campbell, who was on the passenger side, got out of the car to open the metal entrance gate. Fortner, who was at the driver’s side, opened the door to see where Campbell was standing. It was at that moment when the large boxer dog jumped into the van and mistakenly pressed the accelerator, hitting Campbell and trapping him under the vehicle.

Campbell died on the spot.

Fortner has not been charged.
