About 1,193 Cars were torched on New Year’s Eve in France as part of the tradition. The practice reportedly began in earnest among youths — often in poor neighborhoods — in the 1990s in the region around Strasbourg in eastern France.
The exact number of cars burned was announced by the Interior Minister Manuel Valls on Tuesday.
